Morier, John Philip (1776-1853),
British diplomat. Attached to the embassy at Constantinople 1799 as private secretary to the ambassador, the Earl of Elgin; 1803 appointed consul-general in Albania; 1810 promoted to be secretary of legation at Washington; 1811 gazetted a commissioner in Spanish America; on his return to England was, for a while, acting Under Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in August 1815; 1816-1824 envoy extraordinary at Dresden.
